The best plans don’t always work out. Morning Extra Magic Hours are my favorite, especially at Magic Kingdom. After our doubling our fireworks viewing the prior evening we were moving at a bit slow in the moring and didn’t make it on the bus until just after 8:00AM. We arrived at Magic Kingdom at 8:16AM. Since we were so late bag check took a little while and we were finally making our way into the park at 8:33AM. My Instagram story posted as we walked down Main Street sarcastically noted the truth: we were in the park for extra magic minutes by that point.

Peanut wanted to go to Space Mountain so we ventured into Tomorrowland and split up. Diva and Grumpy rode Buzz and were boarding Astro Orbitor as we came off Space.
And just like that, the park was opened for regular hours. We still had a very productive morning. We started by riding Buzz as a family and taking a loop on my kids’ new favorite ride, the Peoplemover, before visiting Storybook Circus for the umpteenth ride on the Barnstormer, flying high on Dumbo, and taking a ride on the Walt Disney World Railroad back to Frontierland.
By the time we arrived Splash Mountain was reporting a high wait so we meandered through Frontierland and Liberty Square back to Fantasyland. We used a FastPass to ride Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. It was starting to rain so we hopped on Prince Charming’s Regal Carousel and then darted through the raindrops to see if we could check in 10 minutes early for our Be Our Guest lunch reservation.
During our lunch, the rain had passed. We still made a stop inside at Mickey’s Philharmagic just because it’s too cute to skip. Next up was another FastPass this time for our first family ride on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. We spent some time taking pictures around the park.
While we were in line Grumpy brought up a rather random idea– he needed a haircut and didn’t want to wait until we got home. He asked, “Isn’t that barber shop somewhere by the entrance.” At least he remembers something. Harmony Barber Shop is located near the park entrance. I warned him they might not have any availability for walk-ins but we all made our way to Main Street. Grumpy snapped a few pictures of me with the kids, and of course, a Mickey pumpkin along the way before we split up again. This time he and Peanut went down Main Street while Diva and I had fun with a PhotoPass photographer.
She and I then stopped to talk with one of the Main Street Citizens. It was so cute. It was our first interaction with any of them. Diva was silly and dancing around. I was too busy laughing to take out my phone for pictures or video.
We arrived at Harmony Barber Shop as Grumpy was finishing with his haircut. I yelled “He wants extra pixie dust,” as I walked in. He quickly and adamantly replied, “No pixie dust!” Diva wanted it though! The Cast Member was so sweet and gave Diva the Pixie Dust that Grumpy had declined.
The minute we walked out the door Diva we noticed Pluto meeting guests next to the Emporium so I hopped in line with the kids.

One more picture stop so Peanut could have his own with me.

Despite our late arrival we still had a fun morning and accomplished everything in our plans plus a haircut and some fun photoshoots. Now we were ready to go for a swim and relax before our dinner at Mickey’s Backyard Barbecue.
