Trip Report: Magic Kingdom Day 3 (2016)

Magic Kingdom Day 3: April 14, 2016

This was a special day. It was my son’s 5th birthday! This was why we’re we’re here. Time to celebrate.

Today we would “go left” at the Castle and explore Adventureland. Rafiki was just over the bridge so he was our first stop. He was quite silly.

It was another busy and productive morning for us. We rode the Magic Carpets, Met Aladdin & Jasmine, took the Jungle Cruise, met Cinderella & Rapunzel, rode the carousel. Yes, again! We caught the Move It, Shake It, Dance parade in the hub where all the characters and dancers stop and dance with the crowd. SOOOO fun!! I really can’t believe that we were going to skip this.

The parade was last stop before lunch Crystal Palace with Pooh, Tigger, and friends. Food was not impressive here but the characters, especially Tigger, were very interactive.

During lunch my son asked to meet Peter Pan. Hmmmm. That wasn’t one I was expecting. I didn’t even know if Peter Pan was at Magic Kingdom– though why wouldn’t he be? His ride is there. Phew! Found him. He was meeting about in 20 minutes. We were nearly done anyway. We made it to meet him. Now it was time for the big plan of the day: TIME TO BE A PIRATE.

Yep, my little boy transformed into a pirate in front of my eyes. He got a pirate name, said a pirate pledge, and grew a beard. There’s a sword and treasure. A pirate bandanna. The Cast Members doing the makeovers are such hysterical characters. He was thrilled. He talked like a pirate the rest of the day.

Now that he’s a pirate we can go ride on Pirates of the Caribbean, a march in the Pirate Brigade (now discontinued) around Adventureland, and he was picked to participate in Captain Jack’s Pirate tutorial. The only thing was Captain Jack called him a “3-year-old with a beard.” My poor guy is a peanut. But it was his 5th birthday. Oh well, he didn’t catch it.

It was my son’s day and he was ready to head back to the resort. He was happy with so many pirate activities. It was a great day!

There was one more surprise waiting in the room when we got back. Thanks to family at home.
